I saw reviews that this boot ran a little small and since I'm either a 7 1/2 or 8, I went with the 8s at first. I didn't find these to run small and had to exchange them for 7 1/2s, which fit perfectly. These, like another pair of Timberland boots I have, feel narrow the first few times you wear them, but after breaking them in they are amazingly comfortable all day. The shaft is narrow, but that's what I was looking for because my calves are similarly narrow. I can wear these over jeans although it's a snug fit. These boots look great with pants and skirts. I was mildly obsessed with these for a while before buying them and I'm so glad I finally did!
