I rarely ever write reviews but these boots are great! Quick (sort of) description: 1) They're a little lighter brown than in the picture but the darker toe/heel color makes them really attractive and not look too light 2) true to size: I'm 6 1/2 to 7, I ordered 7 bc they are winter boots with socks and they are perfect 3) for girls with slim feet/slim ankles they are significantly adjustable with the laces and buckle 4) these boots are very very very comfortable. 5) very nice quality leather and stitching, they smell really nice and I like the pebbled leather; sign of nice quality 6) And.... they are quiet on hard wood floors! Even my boyfriend said "those are really nice looking boots" I'm extremely pleased with my online shoe purchase which is always a gamble 👍 GO ME! Lol

Not as described as far as the 14 inch opening circumference. The circumference of the calf is way too big. I can fit my whole hand down the front and back. I have other boots with a circumference of 14 inch, and they are fine. If you have larger calves, it will work for you. From the calve down the ankles, is large. However, I must say the length of the sole fit perfectly and is comfortable. After all this...sadly, I will return......



Final words.... Skinny calves - hard time finding right circumference opening... 13-13.5 woudl be perfect.

This is Ralph's wife. When I purchased this boot it was said to be waterproof and I believe it is. This boot has room around the top for thick socks or a light slack to be stuffed in if need be. The sole is rugged and good for snow. The zipper starts down low to allow your foot to slip in more easily. My one caveat, the reason why I did not give it five stars, is that once your foot is in there is not adequate cushioning inside and virtually no arch support. I solved this problem by going up one full size and inserting one of the new Dr.Scholl's Active Series Replacement Insoles. This boot is now amazingly comfortable. I don't know if all women go through this, but I try on a lot of shoes or boots, usually, before I can find a pair that I'm happy with. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend them.

Frye Women's Veronica Slouch Boot

I got the veronica slouch boot in dark brown. The color was really nice. I usually am a 8.5 shoe and that is what I ordered. It fit well with normal socks but if you want to use thick socks order 1/2 size up. I say they are true to size and my feet are not thin. The boots do look narrow when you are looking down at them. I have a few issues with this boot, one is they are made in mexico not USA, nothing wrong with being made in mexico, but I thought Frye was US made. (most frye boots are marked made in USA on bottom) If I loved them that would not matter. The real issue is the "slouch" The leather is really thin to add to the worn look but I feel that it takes away from the quality of the boot. If I pay that much for a boot I want it to be thick leather. Thick leather will slouch just as well if not better. They look funny with my jeans tucked into them because of the thin leather it looks bunchy. They do look pretty cute with a skirt or leggings if that is what you like. hope this helps.

I got these boots in a Gold Box special, and am thrilled that I did. They fit great and look really sharp, not at all like some of the cheap rain boots out there. The rubber sole is thick and comfortable to walk in, and the shaft is wide enough for my jeans to fit inside nicely (I have average calves). I got the brown color, and it's a rich, dark brown like nice leather. I'm a size 8 and found them a teensy bit short, but I'm afraid a size 9 would be much too big. If in doubt, I'd suggest ordering two sizes and trying them with thick socks. One note to keep in mind is that because they're rubber, they don't breathe AT ALL. I wore them to do some gardening on a warm day and found that my lower leg got incredibly hot and sweaty (gross, I know). These are definitely cold-weather boots only, for use with breathable/wicking socks.



Highly recommended.

These boots reminded me of reason why I stopped purchasing Stacy Adams shoes years ago...The ridiculous crease factor!



I tried on the right boot the day I received the boots and initially I liked them a great deal. The next day I put together an outfit to wear with these boots. While trying on the outfit I noticed something. One boot was in perfect condition while the one i tried on the day before was very creased along the top rear of the boot as well as where my toes would bend.



My initial response was "the hell!" because I have yet to take more than 30 steps in these boots. Shook my head and proceeded to finish putting together my outfit.



While standing in these boots for approximately 3 to 5 mins, I noticed that they felt uncomfortable around the heel as though I'd been standing in them all day.



For me and I can only speak for me, these boots run small as well. I'm a slim guy at no more than 5'7inches and can easily fit into a 6 or 6.5 shoe/boot/sneaker. These boots in size 7 felt tight to me. Overall I'm kinda disappointed.

Here is the letter i wrote to Keen Customer service today:

I have worn virtually nothing but the targhee keen hiking shoes for seven years-but no more. What have you done? I have owned 5 pairs. They were all Perfect! Imagine my shock when I went to get a new pair Yesterday and found that not only did my size 11's no longer fit, there was now no size that fit! They are tight across top of foot, look terribly cheap, and are obviously very shoddily made.



I can buy a cheap shoddy shoe that doesnt fit at wal mart for $29. Why would i pay $129 for the same thing?



Went on line this morning and found out long term Keen fans are all having same disastrous experience.



So sad to see Keen go the same way as all the other greedy corporations producing cheap lousy products while trying to get a premium price for them.

I am a US size 9 and have narrow calves so was really worried that they would be too big. However, I bought the UK 7F(M) and they fit perfectly. I can wear my jeans inside them, with fleecy socks over the top, which is exactly what I wanted. But they also wouldn't be too big if I wanted to just wear them with shorts or a dress out in the summer storms.

I haven't really had them long enough to test out in really bad rainy/snowy weather, but they seem well made and sturdy, so I think they will hold up well.

I purchased my first pair of Doc Martins back in 1997 and I am just now needing to replace them. Docs are the best investment in shoes because they truly last. These particular boots are great for anyone who wants a pair of boots they can wear in warmer weather because they are not very thick or padded with cloth like a lot of winter boots have.



They do take about a day or two to break them in, but once you do it is so worth it. Docs are the best shoes for people who suffer from foot problems, like myself. They are wide enough to fit comfortably, and the soles give support your arches need for a day on your feet.

I purchased these boots for my wife for her birthday. I'm from the Uk, but we live in the US. I verified with my sister in the Uk the best we could on sizing. When the boots turned up they were nice enough, but were just a little too small. So I had to return them. It had cost me 30 USD to ship to the US, on going to FedEx to ship back, the lowest cost was over 200 USD. So the best I could do was to ship them USPS, which was 50-60 USD, and another 15 USD for packing materials. At this point I've spent 95USD on basically nothing.



When the boots arrived back, it was over the 30 day period - which included the shipping out time and the shipping back time.



The marketplace company 'Country House Outdoor' agreed to store credit, but refused to refund my money even after I explained the situation. So best case scenario - even if she gets boots she actually wants and fit - I'm down another 30 USD shipping, on top of the 95 USD I've already lost in shipping. That's more than the boots were in the first place!



So unless you've gone into a store and tried the exact boots on, I just don't see how you can use this service. And if you have gone into the store and tried them on, why aren't you just buying them there? They are likely to be the a similar price, and you don't have to pay 30 USD shipping, or risk all the extra cost, hassle etc you'll get by shipping back.



Certainly buying blind as a gift as I did, seems impossible with how this is setup.

I loved these boots, but unfortunately due to the European sizes, I guessed a size 8 for my usual 7.5 size foot and they were way too big. And the return policy (which I didn't read) was way too expensive to send back to the UK. I'm trying to sell them on Craigslist etc, but other than the unfortunate sizing, they are great. I replaced with the shorter shaft size 7, which fit perfect!

Have only had these boots for about a week but have been wearing them everyday. I do about 4 or 5 miles per day walking in the woods and know I should wear hiking boots, but I decided to wear these for 1 day to break them in and then go back to my sneakers or hiking shoes. I was willing to suffer 1 day to break these in. That was last week and I've been wearing them everyday since then. No break-in period for me..they've been very comfortable. I did put thin foot insoles in but I do that with all of my footwear before I put them on...so I'm not sure how they would be without them. I'm guessing they would be OK. It has rained a few days here and so far they are definitely waterproof. These boots also look good for riding my motorcycle. I got the charcoal color and they are sharp looking. I'm going to buy another pair over the Winter in another color since I'm so happy with these. I highly recommend these boots.
